Note: Apple has always been B2C-focused and never primarily targeted B2B. However, this idea aims to support small-scale businesses, which are still Apple customers, and in turn, improve the overall user experience.
Rethinking how small businesses and entrepreneurs can accept payments from customers without purchasing additional equipment or subscriptions, simply by using their iPhone or iPad.
Users can pay with Apple Pay or Apple Cash and track their orders on the Wallet app. This raises the intriguing question: why not enable businesses to receive payments via NFC on the Apple devices they already own? Apple Pay was launched on October 20th, 2014, as an alternative to cards and cash. It is now accepted across millions of websites and apps and is available in 85 countries¹. This existing infrastructure could play a key role in enabling business users to receive payments.
A new process to onboard business customers, verify them to comply with regulations, and provide training would be necessary. Additionally, an app that allows businesses to access a dashboard to track performance and activities would need to be launched. To improve customer experience, orders could be linked to Apple Wallet, allowing them to be seamlessly tracked. This service would act as the central hub, integrating Apple Pay, Apple Cash, and Apple Wallet.
As a business Apple can benefit from adding this to their portfolio of income generating services.
